Commercial Photography in Canberra
Stills and video from one crew, in one visit.

Most Canberra businesses book their photography and their video separately. Two quotes, two crews, two days of disruption — and two sets of images that do not quite look like they belong to the same brand.
Distant Blue does both in one booking. We arrive once, light the space once, and leave with the stills for your website and the footage for your campaign, all cut from the same look. Your headshots match your brand film. Your property photography matches your listing video. Nothing has to be reshot because the colour is off.
That matters most for the work we do most: commercial and corporate clients who need a full visual library rather than a handful of photos, and real estate and architecture clients working to a listing deadline.
We are based in Spence and shoot across Canberra and the ACT, with regular work in Sydney and Melbourne.
One Booking, One Look, One Invoice

One visit, not two Your team gets interrupted once. The space gets dressed once. For an office shoot that is the difference between a half-day and two separate days, and for a property it is the difference between hitting the listing deadline and missing it.
Images that actually match Same camera, same lighting, same grade. The photo on your About page and the opening frame of your brand film look like they came from the same company, because they did.
Priced as one package You are quoted for the shoot, not for a photography line item plus a videography line item. One scope, one number.
A crew that has done it before 14+ years across commercial production, with the technical side handled — lighting, colour management, retouching and delivery in whatever formats your agent, printer or web team needs.

Meet Matt — The Photographer
You'll Actually Get
I'm Matt Matoori, and I run Distant Blue.
When you book a shoot, I'm the one who turns up. Not a subcontractor, not whoever was free that week. You deal with the same person from the first call through to the final delivery, which is why briefs do not get lost between people here.
I came to commercial photography from 14 years in games and film production — real-time pipelines, 3D, and technical direction on titles including XDefiant for Ubisoft and the Hollywood movie Sonic the Hedgehog. That is an unusual route into a Canberra corporate shoot, and it shows up in the part of the job most people never think about: colour that holds up from camera to screen to print, images delivered in the formats your team actually needs, and stills and video that genuinely match because the same person graded both.
What that means for you is fewer surprises. The images look the way they looked on the day. The files open. The headshots sit next to each other properly. The work gets used instead of sitting in a folder.
I work with government agencies, professional services firms, architects and agents across Canberra and the ACT. I answer my own email, and I'll give you a quote within 12 hours.
Commercial & Brand Photography
A Visual Library, Not a Handful of Photos

Marketing runs on images, and it runs out of them fast. A website refresh, a tender document, a LinkedIn campaign and a trade stand can each burn through a shoot's worth of photos in a month.
We shoot for the whole year, not the one page. A commercial session with us produces a library — wide environmental shots for hero banners, mid-range frames for case studies, tight details for social, and verticals cropped and ready for stories and reels. Everything is delivered in web-sized and print-sized versions, named so your team can find what they need without asking.
If we are shooting video the same day, the same setups feed both. You end up with a campaign's worth of assets from a single afternoon.
Corporate Headshots & Team Portraits
Consistent Across the Whole Team, Including the Ones Who Missed the Day

Headshots go wrong in two predictable ways, and most pages only talk about one of them.
The first is consistency. The team gets photographed, three people are away, and six months later the website has four portraits that clearly do not match the rest. We set a repeatable lighting and background standard for your organisation and keep the specifications on file. The people who missed the day get photographed later against the same setup, and the results drop straight into the same row on your site. New hires the same, in a year's time, without a conversation about matching.
The second is the people. Most of your team does not want to be photographed and has already decided they do not photograph well. So we do not leave anyone to work it out in front of a lens. You get told where to stand, what to do with your hands, and what to do with your face — and you see the frame on the back of the camera before you walk away, so nobody discovers six weeks later that they hate the picture now sitting on their bio page.
A good headshot is not about looking flawless. It is about reading as credible and approachable in the half-second someone spends on your profile before deciding whether to reply. That is a far easier brief to hit than looking perfect, and it is the one we shoot to.
We come to you, set up in a meeting room or a corner of the office, and run the sessions on a schedule so nobody loses more than a few minutes of their day. Retouching is pitched at a level appropriate to professional services — skin and stray hair tidied, people still recognisable as themselves.
Delivered cropped for LinkedIn, your website, and print bios.
Real Estate Photography
Shot, Edited and Delivered Against Your Listing Deadline

Listings live or die in the first three images. Ours are shot to hold up at thumbnail size on allhomes and realestate.com.au and still stand up full-screen on a desktop.
Every interior is window-pulled, so the view outside reads properly instead of blowing out to white. Verticals are corrected. Colour is balanced room to room, so a house does not shift from warm to green as a buyer scrolls.
Standard turnaround is 24 business hours, with next-morning delivery available when a campaign goes live at short notice.
Walkthrough video, drone and floor plans can be added to the same booking — one visit, one invoice, everything matched.
Architecture & Interiors
Photography for the People Who Made the Building

Architects, builders, interior designers and fitout firms need something different from a real estate agent. The brief is not to sell the property. It is to document the work in a way that survives an awards submission, a practice portfolio and a magazine feature.
That means shooting around the light rather than against the clock — returning at the hour a facade actually works, waiting for the interior to balance, and composing to the lines the designer intended rather than to the widest lens available.
We deliver in the formats submissions require, with the framing and aspect ratios publications ask for, and we are comfortable working to a shot list agreed with your practice in advance.
Crediting and usage rights are set out clearly in writing before the shoot.
How a Shoot Runs
1
A SHORT CALL
Fifteen minutes to work out what the images are for, where they will run, and how many you need. We quote from that, as one number covering stills and video.
2
THE SHOOT
We arrive with everything, work around your schedule, and keep the disruption to the window we agreed. You will see frames on the back of the camera as we go.
3
DELIVERY
Edited images in a private gallery, in web and print sizes, named and ready to hand to whoever is building the page. 7 business days as standard.
Let's Talk About What You Need Photographed
Tell us what the images are for and when you need them. We will come back with a scope and a single price.
