Meet Matt — The Event Photographer You'll Actually Get
I'm Matt Matoori, and I run Distant Blue. When you book event coverage, I'm the one who turns up. Not a subcontractor, not whoever was free that week.
Before the day, we go through your run sheet together and agree a shot list: the keynote, the award handovers, the sponsor logos, the official group photo, whatever matters most to you.
On the day, I dress to suit the event, move quietly and keep flash to a minimum during speeches. Guests relax when the photographer blends in, and that is when the natural photos happen.
My background is film and TV production, including technical direction on XDefiant for Ubisoft and the Hollywood movie Sonic the Hedgehog. That training is why my event photos are well composed and consistent in colour from the first frame to the last.

Conferences and staff days are the easiest time to get headshots done. Everyone is in one place and already dressed for the occasion.
I set up a compact portrait station in a breakout room or foyer, with the same lighting and background for everyone, and coach each person so they look relaxed and confident.

Headshot station with event coverage: $200 setup + $60 per person + GST
One retouched photo per person, extra photos $40 each

Up to 2 hours of coverage. Suits launches, speeches, breakfast briefings, award presentations and networking drinks.
Full day, $1550 + GST
Up to 8 hours of coverage at any Canberra venue. Suits conferences, summits and multi-day events. I photograph the keynotes and panels, the networking, the sponsor stands and the details.
Full day + evening, $1999 + GST
Your full day of coverage, continuing into the evening for a gala dinner, awards night or cocktail function.
Add event video, from $1650 + GST
A short highlight video of the same event, filmed by the same crew, plus key speeches if you need them.

How Event Coverage Works

BEFORE THE DAY
A 15-minute call about your run sheet, venue, key people and must-have shots. You get a fixed quote within 12 hours and a shot list to sign off.

ON THE DAY
I arrive early to check the room and the light, then follow your run sheet. I stay out of the way during speeches and make sure every speaker, sponsor and VIP is covered.

AFTER THE EVENT
Highlights within 24 hours if you need them for social media, then the full edited gallery within 7 business days, in web and print sizes, ready to share.
